Bula Vinaka!

Well we are in Fiji.  The flight was great – a little turbulence but the great disappointment was no individual tv screens!  The kids were very disappointed.  It wasn’t all bad – there were screens and there was a good movie showing.
We made it to Suva at 11.15am and it was lovely and hot – not too hot – just right!   We were met by Peter from OAC who put us in a taxi to take us to Coral Coast Christian Camp where we will spend most of our first week.  It took over an hour to get there but it was interesting seeing the country side and the “architecture” in Fiji.
We are in a one room hotel unit at the camp with our own kitchen so we have visited the local supermarket.  I must say I was disappointed with the fruit and vege’s – it is $F8 for a small sad looking lettuce!  Hopefully when we get back to Suva it will be better.
Peter is coming to collect us on Saturday however the camp said we must be out by Friday morning – I hope their communication improves before then!
We went for a visit to the beach and 2 camp dogs joined us.  They were very protective.  Jeremy and the kids swam while I lay and read a book.  The dogs guarded me and if anyone came within 20m they barked profusely at them!  So I feel safe and if you are wondering yes I have a flush loo!

6 days to go...

The packing has started - oh so much stuff!  Please pray that we would not forget anything important and that we would come in under weight.
Last Saturday night my good friends took me out for the evening before we left.  They are keen to take any opportunity to embarrass me and make me do silly things.  Thanks guys.  We will only be gone for 2 months but I will miss my friends very much.  I am blessed to have such treasures!

We are still waiting to hear about accommodation.  There is an option for a 1 bedroom place.  We would prefer to have 2 bedrooms otherwise we will be living out of suitcases for 9 weeks and moving our bed to the lounge daily as well as needing to find 2 single beds.  Please pray as time is running out!

14 Sleeps to go!

We went and had out Hep A shots yesterday - glad that is over.
Today we went and finished paying off the fares.  We have our tickets so it is all official!  Starting to get excited now.  Still a bit anxious about where we will live.  I am looking forward to hearing that they have found a place.  Please pray that it will sorted soon and will be close to all the things we need as we don't have a car.

Counting Down

Well the Countdown begins!  We leave in 19 days.  There is still a lot to do.  We have a list of needs but are relying on God to provide and he hasn't let us down yet!  I will start packing next week.  Seems like a simple task however we are not packing for a holiday - we are packing to live in Fiji for 9 weeks.  We need to think about bedding, towels etc, toys and games for the kids as well as clothes and the normal things.  We haven't heard about where we are living yet however, someone is looking for a furnished flat for us.  Please pray that something suitable is found soon and will be available when we get there.

If I am honest I would have to say that I am stressed about the whole experience so far.  I am looking forward to it.  It will be great to have this adventure as a family but I am finding it hard with so many unknown things.  I know, however, that God will not give me more than I can handle - Praise God for that!
